When did you first start reading Chick Lit?
If Nancy Drew mysteries constitute Chick Lit (of a sort), then I would say age 10.

When did you first start writing Chick Lit?
I began writing creatively in 2005. I didn't set out to write Chick Lit, but those stories, first short fiction and then novels, are the ones that I dreamt up initially.
What is it about this genre that appeals to you the most? Do you read other genres? If so, which?

I like to laugh, and I like the fact that you can leave out the male POV in a lot of chick lit, unlike category romance, where the man always gets his say. It's a genre that appeals to flawed women, I think. I actually read widely just like I listen to all kinds of music. I like stand-alones and series, mystery, literary, police procedural, thrillers, historical fiction, classic fiction. Almost everything but fantasy and YA.
Name one of your favourite Chick Lit books?
Name one of your favourite Chick Lit books?
I think The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing by Melissa Bank might be my all-time fave. Also, I really do like The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger. Miranda Priestly is a villainess you love to hate.
What's the title of your latest book? Can you tell us about it?
What's the title of your latest book? Can you tell us about it?
GRACE UNEXPECTED is a humorous novel about a smart professional woman who keeps dating Mr. Wrong and winds up in a taboo love triangle.
What inspired you to write it?
I visited Shaker Village in New Hampshire where men and women lived in celibate community, side by side. I wondered how that experience might affect a young thirty-something whose ovaries are ticking, first in a short story. Then when friends said they wanted to hear more about Grace, I wrote the novel.
Is it part of a series?
I do have a sequel planned and perhaps others all being titled GRACE UN_______. The next in the series is GRACE UNDONE.
Who designs your covers?
GRACE UNEXPECTED was published by Booktrope Editions in Seattle. The talented Greg Simanson, who designs many covers for Booktrope authors, did this cover.
If your latest book was made into a film, who would you cast?
Drew Barrymore would play Grace Savage; Barry Bostwick would pay anthropology professor True McKenna, and Chris Pine would play Addison Rinehart
What's your favourite Chick Lit book that made it to the big screen?
The Devil Wears Prada. Even though I've seen it a few times, I'll turn it on each time it pops up on the cable schedule. Meryl Streep is stunning in the flick.
Who is your all time favourite Chick Lit character?
Workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting in Sophie Kinsella's Undomestic Goddess is a wonderful character that you laugh at, laugh with, and cry with. I don't know how Kinsella does it, but you want Samantha to win in the end, like nobody's business, despite the fact that she's an attorney.
Name one Chick Lit author who you think deserves to be better known.
Margo Candela is quite a talented chick lit author who deserves to be better known. I reviewed her novel Good-bye To All That on my blog. I loved that book. A super fun read.
In the movie of your life, who would play you?

I would pick Jennifer Lawrence, especially the Jennifer Lawrence from Silver Linings Playbook. I'm nutty. obsessed, reactive. And my face is unevenly shaped, too.
Speed Round...
Top drink to make you tipsy? Pinot Grigio.
Shopaholic or shopadon't? Armchair shopping when tipsy.
Sky high heels or closer to the ground? More to the ground. Two inch heels-max.
E.L. James or Jilly Cooper? Jilly Cooper
Cry baby or tough cookie? I'm tough, so my characters tend to be tough, too.
