It’s Halle Henry’s final year at Lakeview Academy, and she is determined to make it her best year yet. But when drugs are discovered in her boyfriend Alex’s backpack and he is expelled, Halle’s life spins out of control.
Refusing to believe the accusations against him, Halle vows to get to the bottom of what really happened and bring Alex back to campus so they can graduate together.
Now, all Halle has to do is save her boyfriend, solve a murder, graduate from high school, and keep from getting killed in the process.

“I’m surprised you’re up so early. Did your bed catch on fire?”
“Really, Mom?” Blakely grumbled, wiping a stray wisp of dirty hair from her face.
Lili lowered her tea bag into a brightly painted, misshapen mug.
“It’s the last week of summer break, Blake; I really didn’t expect to see you till noon, that’s all.” Lili loved her daughter but never really understood why she was always so prickly in the morning.
Blakely smiled and ignored her mother. Although she would never tell her, Blakely liked the fact that her mom was still sappy enough to use the mug she made for her in pottery class six years ago.
“We interrupt this program to bring you breaking news from the small country of Tamura . . .”
“What do you know.” Blakely turned her eyes to the screen. “Maybe they’re going to report on something interesting after all.”
“Tragedy struck last night . . . ,” the foreign correspondent announced.
“Hey, Mom, will you please turn this up?” Lili reached for the remote and pushed on the volume button.
“. . . when a large private yacht carrying Tamura’s royal family sank in the deep waters off Tamura’s eastern coast.”
“Wow,” said Lili, turning the volume up another notch.
“Rescue workers have been searching around the clock for survivors. Witnesses on neighboring yachts and here on land reported that they heard a large explosion followed by a brilliant flash of light just after one a.m. The royal yacht was said to have sunk within minutes, taking all those on board with her.”
Blakely stared at the television, unable to take her eyes off the screen. You couldn’t turn on an entertainment show without hearing something about the ultra-attractive, uber-rich Tamuran royals. The pictures Blakely had seen of Tamura were beautiful. The European country was nestled between majestic snow-covered Alps and the brilliant blue Mediterranean Sea. Could anything get any better than that? Everywhere you looked there were pristine white sand beaches, flower-filled bistros, and lavish castles. Blakely had begged her parents just last week to take her to Tamura after her graduation next spring.
“The country mourns as the search for survivors continues.”
“What do you think happened?” Blakely asked her mom, swallowing a mouthful of cereal as the news broke for a commercial.
“I don’t know,” Lili replied glumly. “It’s so sad. They said the entire royal family was on board for some sort of reunion.”
When not at her desk writing she can be found hiking, sailing, or skiing. She enjoys chocolate in any shape or size, too many cups of coffee and laughing (often too loudly as her daughters say) with her friends and family.
