If this is a kidnapping, it’s the kindest one I’ve ever heard of.
I’m living a fat girl fantasy. Snatched from a Weight Watcher meeting by a powdered-donut eating stranger, was by far the most exciting thing that has ever happened to me. Who knew I didn’t need to make appointments or attend meetings to have someone to talk to. A Friend. Two Friends. A dark, intense stranger. Secrets.
Everything I ever wanted, and something’s I didn’t. Not every tasty treat is for eating.
To each his own….right?

When did you first start writing? And when were you first published?
I’ve written for years. As an ER Trauma nurse, I’ve written medical papers as a teaching tool for new nurses. In my spare time, I started writing fiction, a few years back, but never thought anything would come of it. My first book, Becoming Blue, just came out this year, January 15th. I just went for it, and published as an Indie author on Amazon. The second in The Chubby Chasers Inc. Series, Blue, Light and Dark, just released on Valentine’s Day.

What is it about 'chick lit' / 'romance' that appeals to you the most? Do you read other genres?
Reading these types of books is like taking a vacation from real life. As an ER nurse, I get enough reality at work. Whenever I start a new romance, it’s like taking a trip where the girl always wins. The darker the better for me.
I also read Sci-Fi, Stephen King, Justin Cronin.

Can you tell us a little about your latest release?

-I usually describe it as a Fat girl’s fantasy. But it’s more than that. Every girl should have an opportunity to feel sexy, wanted, pampered. Blue, is a lonely lady, making therapist’s appointments, and attending Weight Watcher’s meetings just to be around people. All she has is her cat and a crummy apartment. Why shouldn’t great things happen to her for a change? Friends, a stalkery love interest, great house, high paying job, a clothier and a beauty parlor in the basement. Every woman’s dream right? But as you see, not every tasty treat is for eating.
Book 2 in The Chubby Chasers, Inc. Series, Blue, Light and Dark, is about independence, choosing your own path in life. There are two endings, a HEA and a DEA, so you can choose the ending. I’m very proud of the series, I’ve never read anything like it. Not every leading lady in romance needs to be a waif. I’m giving love to the big girls.

What inspired you to write it?
The Chubby Chasers, Inc. Series started out as private messages to my bestie, TA Roth. It was an idea, that grew legs and started running on its own. It’s got comedy, sexy scenes, and what I think is a totally original idea. There should be diversity in literature, we can’t all be Ana Steele, some of us are Blue.

If it was made into a film, who would you cast as the main characters?
Without a doubt, my cover model, Georgina Horne, would play Bluebelle/Sara with no H Patterson.
In my head, Ricky Martin is Javi. Every fantasy I have about a hot Latin lover revolves around Ricky Martin, love that Vida Loca.
Gretchen would be Jennifer Coolidge, aka Stiffler’s mother from American pie.
Finally, Sasha. She’s a hard one to cast. Maybe Melissa McCarthy with red hair. I almost need a drag queen to play her.

What is your favorite book that made it to the big screen?
That’s tough. I guess it’s a tie, The Shawshank Redemption, and Stand By Me, both taken from Stephen King short stories.

What was the last book you read and would you recommend it?
I’m currently reading The Dark Tower Series, Book 4, from Stephen King. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a great story, well written characters, and an adventure.

Where do you currently write? And where would be your dream writing location?
I write in my backyard, on a table I made, with Christmas Cookie candles burning, and my twinkle lights on.

Tell us a random fact about yourself.
I can’t keep a secret to save my life.

Tell us an interesting fact about where you live.
I live right next to a hiking trail. So, even in Southern California, I’ve got the mountains in my backyard…and no excuse not to exercise.

What inspires you as an author?
The strangest things inspire me. For Becoming Blue, I was inspired by a decadent jelly doughnut. But it could be a picture, a song, a phrase, really beauty in general.

Do you have a muse?
I’d have to say it’s my cover model, Georgina Horne. She takes the kind of pictures that I want to write about.

Who would play you in the movie about your life?
That’s easy…Amy Poehler. I think she would get my brand of snarky humor, while still looking beautiful doing it.

What are your (writing) plans for the future?
I’m working on The Chubby Chasers, Inc. Series Book 3 right now. Then I’ve got a standalone novel, Love Box, that I’ll be adapting from one of my short stories, hopefully I’ll have both done for my book signing June 24rth, in Rancho Cucamonga.

Tell us one thing that's on your bucket list.
I’d like to paddleboard in Maui.

What do you listen to whilst writing?

I’ve got an eclectic taste in music. BeyoncĂ©, I love Drunk in Love. All the songs from The Fifty Shades of Gray soundtrack, and anything by Adele or The Weeknd. But even some Disturbed, Down with the Sickness, when writing dark scenes. When I’m writing fast, then I’m listening to Rise Against.

Name one of your all time favorite songs.
Creep by Radiohead. The music, the words, all of it, speaks to my soul.
