Jasmine’s sixteenth birthday was the worst ever…
All in one day, her dad died, she met a demon, and her mother rejected her existence forever. After all, the demon who killed her dad was there to take her, and all because of her stupid powers—the ability to conjure blue flames.
Two years later, she’s happy. But happy never lasts…
After moving to Idaho to live with her grandparents, Jasmine has a new life. Almost nobody knows about her powers, and she’s just a normal teenager with normal problems. Then comes her eighteenth birthday—and the earthquake that changes her world forever.
An army of demons rise from Hell. And Jasmine is right in the middle of the battle…
When demons claw their way to Earth, Jasmine is surrounded by hundreds of fire-eyed beasts. Worse, she is captured by a big-shot demon named Bael. He’s a tricky foe with a chip on his shoulder—and the desire to make Jasmine use her powers for evil.
Amon is a fallen angel with an attitude—and everything to lose.
Successfully escaping the underworld undetected, Amon is on a quest to regain God’s grace when he rescues Jasmine from the clutches of a particularly nasty demon he knows all too well. The attraction between him and the not-entirely-human captive is instantaneous. Heavenly sparks fly, but ideas of romance will have to wait. First they have to stop the demon race from wiping out the mortal realm. Humanity’s fate rests in their hands.
Can two troubled angels rise above the flames to ensure a future for mankind? Or will Jasmine and Amon’s souls be bound together—in hell?

Hi Cassandra! When did you first start writing? And when were you first published?
I have always loved to write, ever since I was a child. Life got in the way for a while, and two years ago I had a dream about Jasmine and Amon and the crazy world they live in. It was such a vivid dream that I had to write it down the minute I woke up. Above the Flames will be my first publication.
What is it about 'chick lit' / 'romance' that appeals to you the most? Do you read other genres?
What is it about 'chick lit' / 'romance' that appeals to you the most? Do you read other genres?
I love romance books, but the romance in the books I read is usually on the side. For instance, Karen Marie Moning’s Fever Series. It takes forever for Mac and Barrons to finally admit they have feelings for each other. And I love that. I like the tension build up between characters, to where you just have to flip to the next page to see if they finally give in, or if they are still the same stubborn characters you have been reading about. I read a ton of dramas, my favorites right now are Paranormal and Dystopian.
Can you tell us a little about your latest release?
Can you tell us a little about your latest release?
Above the Flames is and end of the world type of book, unless a group of humans can stop that from happening. It’s action packed. It’s scary. And it’s exciting. It’s everything you’d want from a book, even including some romance.
What inspired you to write it?
What inspired you to write it?
My dream, first off. Then, my husband and my brother. My brother kept telling me I have an amazing idea and I need to finish it. And so did my husband. And so, I kept pushing toward the end goal, and here I am today with my first release and in the process of writing my second book in the series.
If it was made into a film, who would you cast as the main characters?
If it was made into a film, who would you cast as the main characters?
I would love Jennifer Lawrence as Jasmine just because she’s an amazing actress. I would probably cast Alexander Skarsgard as Amon.
What is your favourite book that made it to the big screen?
What is your favourite book that made it to the big screen?
The Hunger Games. Loved the whole series. And Pride and Prejudice, which is the first book I read for High School English that I actually loved.
What was the last book you read and would you recommend it?
What was the last book you read and would you recommend it?
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs and yes I would recommend it. It was a fantastically different book and very refreshing in that aspect.
Where do you currently write? And where would be your dream writing location?
Where do you currently write? And where would be your dream writing location?
I write in my home, usually in my room or at my kitchen table. I would love to have my own office, with a long couch type bench built into the wall and soundproof walls to keep the noise my kids make to a minimum.

Tell us an interesting fact about where you live.
My town is small. When I first bought my house, a neighbor brought me over an apple pie. It was sweet, and told me right away what a good neighborhood I picked for my children to grow up in.
What inspires you as an author?
What inspires you as an author?
I don’t know if this inspires my writing, but I know my mom inspires me. She is the most hard-working woman I’ve ever known. Because of her, I learned to work hard. It’s not easy working full time, taking care of my house and my kids and my animals and my husband, and still finding the time to pursue my dream of writing, but because of my mom, I do. You can’t get anything without hard work, and she taught me that.
Who would play you in the movie about your life?
Who would play you in the movie about your life?
Drew Barrymore. Just because she’s been my favorite actress since I was a teenager.
What are your (writing) plans for the future?
What are your (writing) plans for the future?
I plan to write two more books in my Flames Trilogy to finish it off, and then I might try my hand at creating my own world. I’ve always wanted to do that, and I have an amazing idea for it, so hopefully it all translates onto paper.

What do you listen to whilst writing?
What do you listen to whilst writing?
Sometimes, nothing, but when I feel like music for inspiration, I usually turn on a 90’s station and listen to all the grungy music from that time. For some reason it works for me. And if I need a little energy boost, I listen to Journey’s Greatest Hits. They always get me moving.
