Feel by Karen-Anne Stewart

Feel by Karen-Anne Stewart
Publication date: December 2014
Genres: New Adult, Paranormal Romance

The one whose emotions I can’t feel is the one who makes me feel the most.
I was a sensitive, at least that’s what I was told by the boy who saved me from the overwhelming emotions that consumed my soul, the boy who saved me from myself when my gift became stronger. Through the years, he was my redemption, my reason to take my next breath…then, he was gone.
Jensen always told me I was strong, but I didn’t believe him until I was forced to be strong on my own, and I kept breathing without him. I’ve taken 42 million breaths since the moment he sent me away. Now, four years later, he’s standing in front of me, and I can barely breathe.
This isn’t just a story about the abilities I possess; it’s a story about something much stronger…the love of the man who possesses every part of me.
***Disclaimer – Feel is intended for readers 18+ due to strong language, mature scenes, and some violence.

Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
First of all, thank you for allowing me to stop by your blog today! Feel is a powerful love story between two people who have to deal with issues above and beyond what the ‘normal’ couple have to endure. Saige can sense death and feel emotions from everyone around her, except Jensen. Although Feel is a paranormal romance, this story is about much more than Saige’s abilities; it’s about the man who possess every part of her. Jensen is Saige’s strength and she’s devastated when he sends her away. She manages to survive on her own, but she never fully lets go of Jensen, which is obvious, especially when they meet again four years later.
Jensen has always loved Saige and would do anything to protect her, including giving up everything that made him happy. He was Saige’s hero since she was only seven years old, and, when Jensen comes back into her life when she’s twenty, she struggles with her feelings about his abandonment and the depth of her love for him. The reader will feel a myriad of emotions and be able to sneek inside Jensen and Saige’s head with their alternating POVs.

What inspired you to write it?
I’m a sucker for romance, so I know that whatever I write will include a strong love story, but I wanted to write something different that breaks out of the ‘normal’ romance tale.

How did you come up with the idea for the cover?
I was looking through Fotolia’s images and found this picture that I knew had to be the cover for Feel. As the readers will discover, Jensen and Saige’s field plays an important part in their lives, so the cover showing Saige sitting in their field was perfect!

If it was made into a movie, who would you like to play the main characters?
I would be overjoyed if Feel was ever made into a movie!!! My dream cast is as follows:
Jensen - Ian Somerhalder
Saige - Kat Dennings
Andy - Brant Daughtery
Darrin - Shemar Moore
Josie - Amanda Seyfried

What is it about this genre that appeals to you so much?
The New Adult Romance genre is my absolute favorite because it represents a time in a person’s life where everything is possible…but not easy, in the least. This age frame is when we are discovering who we are to become through the best times, tragedies, love, and heartbreak. Our emotions are heightened, and, for the most part, we feel everything at a depth we sometimes don’t fully understand about why we feel what we feel, we just know what we want and aren’t afraid to risk everything to go after our dreams or the one we love.

What made you want to become an author?
I’ve dreamt of becoming an author since college. I was most definitely a late bloomer and was painfully shy. I stayed in the shadows through college but became more adventurous as the years passed. In September of 2012, I decided that I was going to follow my dream and began writing Saving Rain, my debut novel. I’m thrilled that I did. Now, five novels later, I can’t see myself not writing.

How do you come up with character names?
This is one of the best parts for me. I love trying to fit a name with my character’s personality. I use different ways of coming up with names like looking online, or hearing a name and falling in love with it, to playing with two different names and piecing them together.

Name one of your all-time favourite books?
Great Expectations!

Who, or what, inspires you?
Everyday life is an inspiration for me. Just going to the grocery store or out to dinner can spark an idea. That’s the fun part; you never know what or who might give you the next idea for your novel.

Where is your favourite place to write?
I have been known to write in some weird places, including plopping my computer on my trunk and typing away while waiting for my car to be inspected, but my all-time favorite place to write is a restaurant called Square Root. I don’t get to write there much, but I always go there and sit on their patio when I get stuck with a scene. I love that place.

What is your favourite movie that was based on a book?
This is such a hard question because I can change my mind a million times. I love Kiss the Girls, which is from James Patterson’s novel. He is my favorite author, so all the movies made from his books I’ve loved.

Name two of your favourite authors.
James Patterson
William Shakespeare
There are way too many favorites to mention!

If you could have a dinner party with any authors from any time in history, who would you choose and why?
I would love to share a glass of wine with William Shakespeare and see how he came up with all his brilliant characters. I would also love the opportunity to sit back and chill with James Patterson, Gillian Felix, and Jamie McGuire while we snack and I marvel at how they develop their characters and plots.

Tell us a random fact about yourself.
I used to want to be an undercover cop.

Who would play you in the movie about your life?
I’ve always loved Sandra Bullock and I would be honored to have her portray anything about my life.

Tell us an interesting fact about where you live.
I live near Asheville, NC. The Blue Ridge parkway is one of the most beautiful places on earth (at least in my opinion), and, in staying with the paranormal genre, there are several reported ghosts in the area. Asheville even has its own ghost tour.

What are your (writing) plans for the future?
I’m thrilled to announce that I’m writing Gavin’s (sexy, badass bouncer in Ash to Steele) novel that will go live in 2015.

Tell us one thing that's on your bucket list.
Go skydiving, although I would have to save that for last because my fear of heights might just end me the second I hit the air.

Favourite myth / fairytale?
I love the classics and Cinderella has always made me smile.

Who/What did you want to be when you were a kid?
When I was three I wanted to be a giraffe because they are so tall.

Karen-Anne Stewart has always adored reading and has now fallen in love with writing. Her written works are The Rain Trilogy: Saving Rain, Healing Rain, and After the Rain. Her debut novel, Saving Rain: The First Novel in The Rain Trilogy, was a nominee for the Book Junkie’s Choice Awards and is a nominee for the 2013 RONE Awards.
When Karen-Anne isn’t writing, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking, and visiting new places. She fuels her addiction of creating new stories by her only other addiction, caffeine, and listening to a myriad of musical genres. Tucked away near the Blue Ridge Mountains, Karen-Anne lives with her husband, daughter, two dogs, and their cat. She plans on writing new adult romance as long as her fingers maintain dexterity.
