Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
Playing All the Angles is an ode to all the dramatic romance novels I loved, growing up. Judith Krantz, Danielle Steel, and Jackie Collins were my favorite with their over-the-top drama and high stakes relationships. This is the story of Eve D'Amico, the wild, middle sister of three girls, and how she nearly ruins everyone else's life, just as she's figuring out how to pull herself together. It's as much a story about the love between sisters as it is a romance novel.
What inspired you to write it?
I had this scene in my head, something that happens early on in the novel, and I just had to get it down on paper. By the time I'd finished it, Eve had been born, and it grew from there.
How did you come up with the idea for the cover?
My wonderful publishing company did the cover. I wish I could take credit!
If it was made into a movie, who would you like to play the main characters?
This is such a difficult question for me! I have no idea who would play Eve--she's yet undiscovered. Isabelle could be well done by Emily Browning, though. I'd have Ginnifer Goodwin play Alora. I adore Goodwin, and I'd like to see her chew up some scenery as the cranky sister!
Is it part of a series or is it a stand-alone novel?
This is a stand alone novel.
Where is the novel set and why did you choose to set it there?
We're set between London proper, and a home in the countryside. London is one of my favorite places, and since I couldn't be there, I sent Eve there.
What is it about this genre that appeals to you so much?
I enjoy having The Feels. I've loved Romance since opening Jane Eyre, and I just enjoy the thrill of living vicariously through the life cycle of a character's relationship.
What made you want to become an author?
I love to write, and I love to have my work read. Nothing I write comes alive until someone else had read it, so I had no choice but to become an author.
How do you come up with character names?
In this book, the D'Amico family has a naming tradition of using vowels to start each name. A for Alora. E for Eve. I for Isabelle. Alora has daughters named Olivia and...you'll just have to wait and read.
Name one of your all-time favourite books?
In the Romance genre, I am still a Stan for I'll Take Manhattan.
Who, or what, inspires you?
I have a really short attention span, so I'd say everything does.
Where is your favourite place to write?
When I'm writing, I take a bluetooth keyboard with me everywhere, and end up composing into Google Docs on my phone. I don't have a favorite place to write because I write everywhere I go.
What is your favourite movie that was based on a book?
Gone Girl! Rosamund Pike was delicious as Amy Dunne.
Name two of your favourite authors.
C.S. Lewis and Ursula LeGuin
Tell us a random fact about yourself.
The fact that I just found out I have a Vitamin D deficiency seems pretty random. Then again, I'm a writer. I never see the sun!

Right now there are about 50 mosquitoes hanging out on my screen door, waiting for me to open it so they can charge inside. You probably didn't mean where I literally live, though. I live in Texas, and just about everything here is "interesting" in some way, or other. Maybe most interesting is how many Presidents we seem to produce.
What are your (writing) plans for the future?
I am currently in the revision process of a new book.

Oooh! I like this question. My favorite myth is the story of how the constellation Orion came to be. My favorite fairytale is Pamela Dean's retelling of the Scottish ballad, Tam Lin.
Who/What did you want to be when you were a kid?
Everything! I wanted to do and be everything. Maybe that's why I became a writer? I can pretend to be everything.
