Hi Krys! Can you tell us a little about your latest book.
Destroyed takes place in Rescate County, New Mexico. The main character Bella has been sheltered most of her life. Although she has faced some struggles, she hasn't ever known how destructive the world can really be. Within the first two months of her junior year of high school, she gets her first boyfriend, has her first kiss and is slowly coming out of her shell. Then she's raped. The story follows her life as she deals with new beginnings and the horrific events that force her to question everything she believes.

What inspired you to write it?
Rape is a huge problem in our country, hell all over the world. I felt this topic (no matter how taboo) deserved some much needed attention. My own personal experiences definitely played a factor in my desire to write this story, but it was more than that. I wanted to do something that could shed light on the issue rape has become and how our viewpoints as a society can affect the victims.

Is it part of a series?
Yes. The series is titled Dark Road and Destroyed is the first. The second book, Punished, will release June 1. There are at least four more after that planned (Addicted, Betrayed, Burned & Forgotten), but how far the series will go depends on the people/characters of Rescate County. I'll write as long as they have stories to tell.

If your latest book was made into a movie, who would you like to play the main characters?
I really had to think about this one. There are actors and actresses I love, but none of them completely fit the two main characters, Bella and Jeremiah. After some thought, if I could chose anyone - I would pick Raven Symone to play Bella and Jacob Artist to play Jeremiah.

What made you want to become an author?
I simply have stories to tell. My life is filled with a lot of experiences and if I can use the bad or even the good and help somebody just using my words, then I'll consider my time on this earth well served.

Name one of your all-time favorite book covers?
I'm not sure I can pick just one. A lot of covers draw my attention, but it's the information I gain on the story that lets me know if it's worth the purchase. If I had to pick one cover, I would have to choose Winter by Melissa Meyer. I loved the simplicity of just the apple being held out.

Name one book that made you think 'wow'? Why did it have such an effect on you?
The first book I ever read by Colleen Hoover: Hopeless. This effected me because I could relate to the main character, mostly in regard to how little she remembered of her childhood. I have very few memories before the age of 11. Sometimes it can be daunting when you don't feel like you have something to share from that period in your life.

Who, or what, inspires you?People inspire me. We all have a story to tell, some more horrific than others. It's these things that make me realize how helpful fiction novels can be and how important it is to insure those stories are told. Books similar to my own let us know... we aren't alone.

Where is your favorite place to write?
Panera Bread. I love finding a little corner where I can spend the day munching on goodies and drinking coffee.

What is your favorite movie that was based on a book?
Despite the fact that one of my pet peeves, like so many people out there, is when the movie is different from the book, my favorite is The Duff. I felt like I was able to watch the movie and read the book and still enjoy them both separately.

Who is your favorite author (s) and why?
J.R. Ward because I just want to jump into her novels and be a part of the world she created.

If you could have a dinner party with any authors from any time in history, who would you choose and why?
Mary Shelley because I'd love to know how she felt about passing her masterpiece off as something her husband wrote. Shakespeare so I could pick his brain. He created some messed up stuff back in his day. And lastly Rene Descartes because the man was brilliant.

Tell us a random fact about yourself.
I love to sing at karaoke.

Tell us something interesting about the area where you live.
Ashley Greene (known for her role in the Twilight movies as Alice) was born and raised in the city I live in. She even attended high school here.

At the age of 16, Krys Fenner fell in love with Psychology and Creative Writing. At that time she wrote her first short story dealing with sexual abuse and forgiveness. Psychological issues in her family filled her with the desire to help others using her own experiences. So in 2004, she earned an Associate of Arts in Psychology. And while her sister is the one with dreams of becoming a Psychologist, Krys Fenner returned to Creative Writing. She is currently working on a Bachelor of Arts and plans to continue on to a Masters degree, where she can major in her first love (Creative Writing) and minor in her second (Psychology).
