Lionspride1 'She is the reason your friends are dead. She should pay the price for that betrayal.'
Not long ago Kammy had led a simple existence, stuck on an island, with only her Gran and Jamie to care about. Now she knows she is half Semei and of royal blood, in possession of an item that could bring about a war that would destroy the world, and so the worlds within it. She cannot go back and, despite everything, she does not want to.But she is haunted by the man - the king - that shadows her.Bagor and his army wait. In three days he will march into Emire and he will take everything.Kammy and her friends have one hope. They must find Danorrah; a cursed city, lost to the memory of all. Bagor will hunt them, every step of the way, determined to claim the Key and to claim her. It is all well and good that Kammy does not want to go back to her old life, but she will need the blessing of the Mother if she is to elude Bagor and hang on to her new one.

Check out The Wolf's Cry, Book One of The Semei Trilogy
WolfsCry

Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
The Lion’s Pride is the second book in the Semei Trilogy. It picks up right where The Wolf’s Cry left off. Bagor and his army attacked Emire, and there looks to be no way out for our heroes. Of course, the story does not end at the start. Kammy, Jad, and the others have to find a way to escape Bagor once again, for he simply cannot claim the Key that they carry.
But they cannot run forever, and so they seek the lost city of Danorrah. If Bagor believes that there is a third layer, another world within the earth, then what if they could find it first? Could they then take the fight to Bagor, using whatever weapon it is that rests there?

If it was made into a movie, who would you like to play the main characters?
Oh man, I am so rubbish at this kind of question.
I think I’d like relative unknowns to play the mains. I’ve always pictured Idris Elba as Seeve, and I’d love to get Natalie Dormer in there somehow. Maybe as Ria?
And let’s throw in Bob Morley and Eliza Taylor. I don’t know who they could play, but hey...I’d get to meet them both at the premiere so I don’t care!

Where is the novel set and why did you choose to set it there?
The Lion’s Pride is set in a layer of the earth beneath our own. This layer is inhabited by a race of shapeshifters, called the Semei, and by five great Crystals. These five Crystals were created by the Mother, and sustain the life within all layers of the earth.
Why did I choose to set it there? Without sounding too cliche, I didn’t really choose it. It’s just kind of how my ideas unfolded!

What is it about this genre that appeals to you so much?

The escapism of fantasy has always appealed me. I also love dramatic action, and epic sequences. When writing or reading fantasy, you have an abundance of all that.
Fantasy fiction, to me, has all the reality of real life, with an added dollop of imagination and magic.

How do you come up with character names?
Randomly! I don’t tend to look for any deep meaning. Most of the time, the names just come to me. I sometimes have to try a few out first though. In old drafts I had a character called Layla. The name never felt right to me, but I kept using it while drafting because I couldn’t find the right name. Then, one very unremarkable day, I realised that Layla should be called Tayah. And that was that.

Name one of your all-time favourite books?
The Empire Trilogy,by Raymond E Feist. Mara of the Acoma forever. Everyone go read it please.

Who, or what, inspires you?
Other than books/games/tv shows/films?
Places of natural beauty, and historical locations. History plays a big part in inspiring a lot of my ideas, even if very loosely. I like to base my books in reality, and there are so many historical stories out there to play with. And if you take yourself away to a deep forest, or a distant mountain range...you can almost imagine that you have stepped back in time and the inspiration comes two-fold.

Where is your favourite place to write?
In Italy! I’m very lucky to have a place that I can stay every year. It overlooks mountains in the south of Italy and it’s stunning.

Tell us a random fact about yourself.

Tying into the above, I’m half Italian - and I tell everyone about it because my love for Italy knows no bounds. Cue all my friends rolling their eyes at this being my random fact.

NatalieCrown
I grew up in a village called Swilland, in the countryside of Suffolk, England. There wasn’t much around, other than farms and fields, but for the most part I loved it, and I still do. I’m a passionate person by nature. I don’t just LIKE things, I LOVE things. Whether it’s a book, a film, or a sports team. Once I decide to enjoy something, I enjoy it to the MAX.
I’m a terrible cook. I prioritise essential social media work over keeping my flat tidy, because I know best.
Onto my love of reading and, consequently, writing – it was my dad that played a big role in encouraging me to read. He didn’t push me towards books necessarily; he simply read a lot himself. Then I would pick up his books and read them after him. I was reading high and epic fantasy from a very young age. I guess that might explain why I have always loved adventure stories with magic and intrigue and princes and princesses in.
I was aware that I wanted to ‘be a writer’ from a very young age. I was convinced I would be the first best seller that hadn’t reached double figures in age yet! I wrote about the Danshees, furry creatures that lived through a mirror. I wrote about a Sand Bottle that transported a boy into a world of magic. I wrote about a sick girl finding a music boy that healed her, but transported her back in time. (Wow, I always have loved alternate universes…)
When I was eight I wrote my first novel called The Land of No Return. Despite the title, I am determined to return to it one day. I feel like I owe it to my past self. So, as you can see, I have always been writing. There have been times when I have gone weeks without scratching down a word. Then there are days where I churn out multiple chapters and only my body’s silly desire for sleep and/or food can stop me.
I write because I enjoy it. I write fantasy because I enjoy it. I try my hardest to put something of myself into my writing. I like to think my characters have depth, I like to think that my fantasy worlds reflect upon the real world in some way. You guys will be the judge of that but even if you don’t agree I know that I at least try and I can do no more than that.
These days I live in North London and I love it. I work full time and London is a hectic city. Juggling work, writing and a social life is tough but nobody is forcing me to do it so I can’t complain. The dream is that writing will be my career one day but it doesn’t matter if I never quite make it. I love writing too much to ever pack it in.
I am desperate to get a dog. My mum suspects I miss my cats at home more than I miss her. I am a devout Arsenal/Ferrari/Rafael Nadal fan. I get all mad when confronted with a case of social injustice and then I get all mad when people take the fight for social justice too far. I mostly keep those thoughts to myself and simmer with rage. I watch good TV and bad TV, because I can. What I can’t do is enjoy bad books (subjective opinion of course). I just can’t.

Excerpt
Hush

“I’m surprised you’re up so early. Did your bed catch on fire?”
“Really, Mom?” Blakely grumbled, wiping a stray wisp of dirty hair from her face.
Lili lowered her tea bag into a brightly painted, misshapen mug.
“It’s the last week of summer break, Blake; I really didn’t expect to see you till noon, that’s all.” Lili loved her daughter but never really understood why she was always so prickly in the morning.
Blakely smiled and ignored her mother. Although she would never tell her, Blakely liked the fact that her mom was still sappy enough to use the mug she made for her in pottery class six years ago.
“We interrupt this program to bring you breaking news from the small country of Tamura . . .”
“What do you know.” Blakely turned her eyes to the screen. “Maybe they’re going to report on something interesting after all.”
“Tragedy struck last night . . . ,” the foreign correspondent announced.
“Hey, Mom, will you please turn this up?” Lili reached for the remote and pushed on the volume button.
“. . . when a large private yacht carrying Tamura’s royal family sank in the deep waters off Tamura’s eastern coast.”
“Wow,” said Lili, turning the volume up another notch.
“Rescue workers have been searching around the clock for survivors. Witnesses on neighboring yachts and here on land reported that they heard a large explosion followed by a brilliant flash of light just after one a.m. The royal yacht was said to have sunk within minutes, taking all those on board with her.”
Blakely stared at the television, unable to take her eyes off the screen. You couldn’t turn on an entertainment show without hearing something about the ultra-attractive, uber-rich Tamuran royals. The pictures Blakely had seen of Tamura were beautiful. The European country was nestled between majestic snow-covered Alps and the brilliant blue Mediterranean Sea. Could anything get any better than that? Everywhere you looked there were pristine white sand beaches, flower-filled bistros, and lavish castles. Blakely had begged her parents just last week to take her to Tamura after her graduation next spring.
“The country mourns as the search for survivors continues.”
“What do you think happened?” Blakely asked her mom, swallowing a mouthful of cereal as the news broke for a commercial.
“I don’t know,” Lili replied glumly. “It’s so sad. They said the entire royal family was on board for some sort of reunion.”

Some secrets should remain hidden forever…

When neither can solve the puzzle without the other, they set off on a new adventure. They’re forced to ignore the sparks that still fly unhindered between them as their search for the golden riches weaves from Tuscany’s underbelly to Archer’s luxurious yacht in the Greek Islands.

Hi Kendall! Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
Treasured Secrets is an action packed treasure hunt with a delicious romance. It weaves from Tuscany’s underbelly to a glorious super-yacht cruising around the Greek Islands. Rosalina, the heroine in Treasured Secrets is a talented chef. Food, flavors and romance sustain my heroine. But with ruthless competition hot on their tail, who will do anything to get their hands on the treasure first, Rosalina begins to wonder if some secrets should never be revealed.
Recipes from “Treasured Secrets” debut in their own book too, “Rosalina’s Treasured Treats” so you can cook along as you read.

What inspired you to write it?
Two things actually. A friend of mine was going out with a guy who wore an unusual necklace. Whenever she asked him about it, he refused to tell her. And he refused to take it off, even when she told him that it nearly knocked her teeth out when they had sex. Of course she became obsessed about it and eventually, after 8 months, he told her it belonged to his previous girlfriend who had died. Not long afterwards they broke up. My character in Treasured Secrets, Archer, wears an unusual gold pendant around his neck that he too refuses to talk about or take off. The story behind the necklace is central to the entire treasure hunt.
The other inspiration for the story stemmed from a trip to Tuscany. I went to a little church in Florence that was very insignificant compared to many of the other beautiful churches around it. Inside, inlaid in the mosaic floor tiles, was an oval pattern. Our tour guide told us it was the trap door where they threw the bodies during the 13th century plague that killed 50 million people in Europe. My mind went crazy thinking about entire families being wiped out by that horrible disease. Then I began to wonder what happened to the precious things they left behind.

How did you come up with the idea for the cover?
The story was born in Tuscany and much of it is set in Florence and a lovely 700 year old villa in Tuscany called Villa Pandolfini. So of course the cover just had to have a beautiful Tuscan setting.

If it was made into a movie, who would you like to play the main characters?
I would love Jennifer Lopez as the actress to play Rosalina, my beautiful Italian chef. Gerard Butler is the perfect man to play my hunky treasure hunter Archer Mahoney.

Is it part of a series or is it a stand-alone novel?
This is book one in my Treasured series. Book two Treasured Lies is out October 2015 and book three, Treasured Love, is due out April 2016.

Where is the novel set and why did you choose to set it there?
The novel has two main locations. The treasure hunt starts in Florence Italy and then travels to the Greek Islands. I’ve been to both locations. Tuscany his steeped in history and there’s no better place to set up a missing 13th century treasure. I chose the Greek Islands because I wanted the scuba diving to be magical.

What is it about this genre that appeals to you so much?
I love action adventure because I’m always up for an adrenalin rush and I love romance because I’m a hopeless romantic, who fell in love with my very own hero at sixteen. I incorporate both the thrill of a ride and wonderful emotions of falling in love into my writing

What made you want to become an author?
Maths is my thing. So to improve my spelling, grammar and writing in general, I scribbled ‘write a book’ on my bucket list. In 2008 my husband bought me a course called The Year of the Novel. During that year I wrote Lost in Kakadu. It was a dreadful first draft. But I fell in love with writing and after another 20 or so drafts, and another 6 years, where I worked extremely hard to improve my writing skills, I finally decided Lost in Kakadu was ready. That book went on to be published in 2013 and became the Romantic Book of the Year in 2014. And I haven’t stopped writing since.

How do you come up with character names?
I love both my leading characters names. Archer Mahoney is my hero. A customer of mine has Archer as his surname and that’s where the idea came from. Rosalina Cullucci is my heroine’s name. I wanted something unique, with an Italian feel to it, so I made this up.

Name one of your all-time favourite books?
Deception Point by Dan Brown.

Who, or what, inspires you?
I’m inspired by people who have overcome diversity or tragedy to go on and live incredible amazing lives. This is why I love reading memoirs and biographies as well as fiction.

Where is your favourite place to write?
I love writing by my pool in the afternoons. Especially with a glass of wine to get my creative brain flowing.

What is your favourite movie that was based on a book?
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

Name two of your favourite authors.
Matthew Reilly and Nora Roberts

Tell us a random fact about yourself.
My first pet was a cow named Moo. He died of old age.

Who would play you in the movie about your life?
photo credit: Cate Blanchett via photopin (license)
Cate Blanchett. We have similar hair and she’s a fantastic Aussie actress.

Tell us an interesting fact about where you live.
I live in Suburban Brisbane and my house back’s onto virgin bush that is a Koala reserve. However I see kangaroos more often than koalas when I walk my dog out there.

What are your (writing) plans for the future?
I have 3 books out this year Treasured Secrets (April 2015) and Treasured Lies (October 2015) and I have my first crime novel, Double Take, coming out in print and digital copy (September 2015).

Tell us one thing that's on your bucket list.
I have 101 things on my bucket list. I’ve completed 38 of them. The next one I’m really looking forward to is seeing the Terracotta Warriors in China.

Favourite myth / fairytale?
I love the ugly duckling. I believe everyone has a beautiful swan within them.

Who/What did you want to be when you were a kid?
I always wanted to be an archeologist. Maybe that’s why I love writing my Treasured series so much. There’s nothing like solving a puzzle to find a priceless missing artefact.

Guardians of Terath: Seeking Sorrow by Zen DiPietro

Tour Page & Schedule

An earth-like world of high-tech humans faces the reality that their world is not as safe as they thought it was. Five people are thrown together to quietly get to the bottom of an unfathomable mana event that must stay quiet. If the population of Terath becomes aware of the truth, it will spark a civil war. That war would pit the majority of the population against the powerful minority with the ability to harness and manipulate mana. The resulting cataclysm would decimate the population and tear apart the foundation of society.
The five people chosen for this must reconsider everything they thought they knew about mana, even as they learn to trust one another’s abilities. They must embrace everything they never wanted in order to prevent the devastation of their world. One of them will be forever changed. Love will be denied, badassery will be unleashed, and Terath will never be the same.
Even success comes at a price.

Author Guest Post
5 Inspirations Behind Seeking Sorrow
Inspiration can come from so many places. A book is a tapestry of imaginings and inspirations, tossed together and stirred around. For every book ever written, I’d bet there is a completely different set of inspirations. Here’s a look at what inspired Seeking Sorrow.
Music. The big, important scenes of this book each were written with a specific song in mind. Actually, the songs often played on a loop while I was writing.
Movies. Beautiful imagery like the forest in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and the Shire in Lord of the Rings served well for imagining Terath, which is lush and verdant. Also, the dark imagery of The Battle at Helm’s Deep in LOTR reminded me of the grimness I wanted to portray.
Other books. Not in a copycat way, but imagination begets more imagination. When you let a story in, it can change you. You find some little bit of something that resonates and turn it around in your mind until it evolves into something unique. There’s a reason that writers are also avid readers.
Photos. I found pictures that represented my characters and saved them as a background on my computer so I could look at them and really imagine them talking, laughing, and existing as real people.
Life. The old adage is “write what you know.” Every single day is an opportunity to find some moment, some idea, that is the seed that can grow into something wonderful. There are pieces of things I love in this book, from a favorite childhood doll to a love of dance.
Inspirations can be inside a single moment, such as a gesture or a facial expression. What’s inspired you lately?

I kiss him, choosing love over honesty, which is a choice nobody should ever have to make…"

Robin loves sweet, responsible Nick, with his penchant for Beethoven and Ben Folds Five. But she also still loves her college boyfriend Jed, an irreverent playwright plagued with cystic fibrosis. Now Robin is struggling to reveal her secrets and confront her past, as she finally performs in the play that Jed wrote for her, eleven years ago. Will Robin have the strength to keep her promise and stay true to her heart?

Alternating between present-day scenes, college flashbacks, and segments from Jed’s play, this tear-jerking yet uplifting tale illustrates how life is finite but love is infinite, and the road to recovery begins with the next breath.
Goodreads | Amazon

Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
It’s a flashback/flashforward story. Present-day Robin is in love with her boyfriend, Nick, but she can’t bring herself to tell him about her relationship with her college love Jed, who had cystic fibrosis. But now, eleven years later, Robin’s performing in the play Jed wrote for her, and she’s forced to revisit the heartbreak she went through so long ago.

What inspired you to write it?
The Next Breath stars Robin, the same main character as in my 2013 release, The Holdout. I had the best time writing it and knew I wanted to continue Robin’s story. But when I started writing a second book I felt that sophomore slump. How do I write something unique and dynamic? I decided I need to play around with flashbacks, and put Robin in a life or death situation. I wanted to capture the raw feeling of being young and in love, when the stakes are super-high.

How did you come up with the idea for the cover?

Christa Holland, at PaperandSage.com designed the cover, and I think she did an amazing job! I found the photo and she added the lighting effects, composed it, and put in this cool font. I smile every time I look at it.

If it was made into a movie, who would you like to play the main characters?
Blake Lively would play Robin, Max Greenfield would play Nick, Ian Somerhalder would play Jed, and Mary McDonnell would play Catherine.

What is it about this genre that appeals to you so much?
I fell in love with “chick lit” back in the 90s, because of the intimate tone and sense of humor that most of those books have. Reading one was like having a cocktail with my girlfriend! I guess the books I write are more “women’s fiction” because they tackle serious subjects, but really, the labels can be a little silly, right? Readers like to know what they’re getting, so it makes sense to try and classify them, but when it comes down to it, we just want our reading material to be good!

If you could have a dinner party with any authors from any time in history, who would you choose and why?
Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Henrik Ibsen, Douglas Copeland, Donna Tartt. J.K. Rowling, Suzanne Collins, Curtis Sittenfeld and Sandra Cisernos. Most of these authors are alive, and all of them were/are amazing, but very different from each other. The main reason I pick them is because they all have inspired me and I’d love to learn from them.
The problem would be: what to serve? I doubt Shakespeare and Suzanne Collins would have the same taste in appetizers! Also, I’d love to invite F. Scott Fitzgerald, but I could see him being really pretentious and annoying the other guests. ☺

Tell us a random fact about yourself.
I drink more water in a day than most people drink in a week, and it’s never with ice.

Tell us an interesting fact about where you live.
There is so much to do and see in Minneapolis. I’m convinced that if it wasn’t for the cold weather, people would be flocking here. But alas, last winter we had MANY days with temps at 20 below. It keeps our city’s population down!

What are your (writing) plans for the future?
I’m planning one last book about Robin. She’ll be in NYC, doing a Project Runway-type show, and she’ll help out a ballet dancer turned model who is in serious trouble.

LAO_2Laurel Osterkamp becomes very attached to her characters, and it’s hard for her to stop writing about them.  The Holdout, November Surprise, Blue State, Campaign Promises, American Angst and The Next Breath all feature the Bricker family, as their stories continue. (But you can read any of these books in any order.) You can find Laurel on Twitter but she needs to work on sending clever Tweets. A better idea is to follow her blog at www.laurelosterkamp.blogspot.com. Laurel teaches in Minneapolis, MN, where she tries to stay warm, spend time with her two nearly perfect children and husband, and find the time to write.  Her other novels are Following My Toes and Starring in the Movie of My Life. In the tradition of Divergent comes a novel about a world where negative emotions are stolen ... and only those with fury can stand up and fight.

Eighteen-year-old Josephine Luquet wakes naked and covered in blood that is not hers on the same day every year—when the blood moon is full. Josi has not responded to the "Cure"—an immunization against anger mandated by the government—and believes herself to be a threat to others.

Then she meets Luke. Luke has had the Cure but seems different to the other "drones"—and he's dead set on helping Josi discover the truth about herself before the next blood moon.

But time is running out. Is Luke willing to risk his life to be near her? Does he truly understand what violence she is capable of?

Raw and full of passion, Fury is a story of love in a dystopian world, and how much we are willing to forgive in the struggle to remember our humanity.

I'm delighted to be interviewing Charlotte today. I just loved her answers to my questions!! Check it out...

Can you tell us a little about your latest book, Fury?
Fury is the first in a trilogy set in a dystopian future where anger has been cured by the government. Josephine is the last remaining uncured soul, and she’s plagued by dark demons from her past as she tries to find a way to survive the cold world, her only ally a stranger named Luke who has secrets of his own.

What inspired you to write it?
I read a story many years ago about a man who’d been through a trauma and believed he was transforming into a werewolf, and this sparked the idea of Josephine for me — a woman who believed she was turning into something completely alien under the blood moon, someone burdened by the fear of having committed terrible deeds without any control over them. The science-fiction world took shape after that, because I wanted to counter Josephine’s anger at her plight with a world that no longer had the ability to empathize with rage, hence the mandated cure for fury.

How did you come up with the idea for the cover?

I have nothing to do with the cover, actually – it comes from the publisher. Luckily enough I think it’s really cool ☺

If Fury was made into a movie, who would you like to play the main characters?
I always really struggle with this question! Maybe for Josephine… Mia Wasikowska? Especially because she’s Aussie! I’m really intrigued by Brie Larson lately, after I saw her in Short Term 12 – she’d make an interesting Josi too. I can see Jamie Dornan being a great Luke. But his book to movie adaptation quota is probably filled for a while now. Oh – Chris Hemsworth! I love him.

What is it about the dystopian genre that appeals to you so much?
I love the high stakes of the world, the danger of it, the idea of a society that has turned against the individual—in this kind of world, real courage and humanity must shine through in order for survival to be possible, and those are the best kinds of stories in my opinion.

You've been writing since you were 14. Why did you want to become an author?
I can’t explain it any better than with a quote by Leo Rosten. “The only reason for being a professional writer is that you just can't help it.”

How do you come up with character names?
Some characters have names almost as soon as they come into my head, others I have to think about for a little while, and for this I have a great little baby names book that I love reading through and getting ideas.

Name one of your all-time favourite dystopian books?
I really love ‘Under The Never Sky’ by Veronica Rossi or ‘Pure’ by Julianna Baggot. And of course ‘Brave New World’ by Huxley.

Who, or what, inspires you?
Other books inspire me constantly – if I’m ever stuck with my own work, I know I only have to find a gorgeous book, read for a few hours and then I’ll be feeling inspired again. Same with a great film, or a good tv show. Real life, of course, is a big factor – I think to be a writer you have to allow yourself to be inspired by the real stories you hear, or by the people you know and their interesting quirks. Especially if you are writing spec-fiction that looks at possible futures, you need to be interested in the way the world works, and the way humanity and society functions within it.

Where is your favourite place to write?
Holed up in my room, with music playing and no distractions.

What is your favourite movie that was based on a book?
Ooh, good question. I have to say, I thought the Hunger Games movie was an excellent adaptation of the novel. I recently enjoyed the Divergent movie. And How I Live Now was a great adaptation of the Meg Rosoff book.

Name two of your favourite authors.
Laini Taylor and Glen Duncan. And also Pierce Brown. And Melina Marchetta and Guy Gavriel Kay — oh god there are too many to choose from!

If you could have a dinner party with any authors from any time in history, who would you choose and why?
Charlotte Bronte would definitely be one – Jane Eyre is incredible. Shakespeare, of course. Aldous Huxley. And my current fave Laini Taylor. That would be an odd dinner party.

Tell us a random fact about yourself.
My favourite food is cheese. Random? Maybe. Interesting? Possibly not.

Who would play you in the movie about your life?
Oh my god the movie of my life would be the most boring movie on the planet. It would consist of someone sitting at a computer and imagining interesting things! I’m cringing so much at the thought that I can’t possibly put some poor actor into that role!

Tell us an interesting fact about where you live.
I live in Sydney, by the beach, which I love. The suburb I’m in is full of backpackers so I’m surrounded by really attractive English and Irish accents all the time. So that’s fun.

What are your (writing) plans for the future?
I’m currently editing a new novel called ‘Thorne’, the sequel to my fantasy novel ‘Avery’, which came out last year. I’m also writing the sequel to ‘Fury’, which I hope will be released not too far in the future.

Tell us one thing that's on your bucket list.
I really want to go and live in a cottage in the moors of Scotland one day. I’d write romantic stories based on myths and legends and I’d have a fireplace, and there’d be mist everywhere all the time – and a local pub nearby where I could go and dance to fiddle music.

Favourite myth / fairytale?
Probably the Celtic selkie myth, about the seafolk who have two bodies. When in seal form they swim the ocean, but can remove their sealcoats and become human. If a dastardly human were to steal their sealcoat, however, they would be trapped on land forever, longing for the sea. I think it’s sad and beautiful.

Who did you want to be when you were a kid?
I’m not really sure… For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to be a storyteller and an adventurer, which is I think why I became a writer.

Dægan Ræliksen, a wealthy chieftain from Norway's frozen fjords, secretly discovers Mara at the water's edge. He is charmed by her beauty and sensuous grace. As the days pass, his contentment with simply watching her grows thin. He can no longer deny his unabated desire for the young maiden. His search for a wife has ended.

In these times of upheaval, how can Dægan make peace with Mara's father and acquire the woman he treasures? Furthermore, can Mara move past her fears and find the noble man within the savage?

The Fall of Rain, Book 3

Leif Dæganssen, an archeologist from Norway, is determined to trace back his Scandinavian roots as far as the Dark Ages and find proof of their existence on the Emerald Isle. After several years of living off the west coast of Ireland, he finally uncovers an ancient artifact—an intricately decorated chest with pagan carvings—buried beneath the very porch of his coastal cottage. Knowing it only confirms the presence of a glorified Norse-influenced settlement on Inis Mór, he’s determined to establish a link between himself and those who once inhabited the rugged isle.

For as long as she can remember, Lorraine O’Connor has had dreams of a Norse warrior kissing her. And even though she’s never fully understood the reason for her vivid subconscious imagination, she welcomes the meaningless and wanton pleasure of being in a Viking’s protective embrace—until the day she meets that brazen Northman on an impulsive vacation trip to Ireland.

Though blindsided by the relevance of her dreams and the strange familiarity of the man within them, Lorraine can’t help but feel a deep-seated intimacy toward Leif. And the more she gets to know him, the more she’s convinced they’ve shared a life together in a time long forgotten.

Are the clues to their ancestral past hidden within the contents of the chest or buried deep within their hearts?

Teaser Quote:

“What Lorraine has told you is the honest truth. There’s no denying who you are. But until you go in that house and dig up the evidence for yourself, you’ll never know who you used to be. Oh, I know you’ll realize it one day. By then, I fear it’ll be too late. So, don’t be a fool and let the only woman you’ve ever loved slip through your grasp. Three days, Leif.”

Reviews:

"I didn't believe it was possible to take Daegan and Mara's incredible love story to another level, but I am extremely pleased to be wrong. Every word seemed to have a purpose in helping create a beautiful and poetic ending to an unforgettable trilogy. If you've never heard of the name Renee Vincent then you're missing out on quality reading that's worth every second of your undivided attention. It's an escapists dream and I will most certainly be back for more."
